About the role

GiveDirectly is hiring a Technical Program Manager to build and run the systems used in rapid emergency cash responses. The role translates field needs into technical requirements and coordinates reliable tools for data collection, verification, payments and monitoring.

Location eligibility: The role requires meaningful overlap with East Africa working hours and lists Kenya compensation. Check the official country options.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end technical delivery during emergency-response activations.
  • Coordinate product, engineering, data, payments, research and programme teams.
  • Maintain deployment guides, technical documentation and incident-response protocols.
  • Track readiness metrics and turn retrospectives and root-cause analysis into system improvements.
  • Assess and reduce risks involving connectivity, fraud, data loss, devices and system misuse.

Requirements

What you will bring

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in technical programme management, product, data, engineering, international development or a related field.
  • Experience managing timelines, risk, stakeholders and complex deliverables across multiple workstreams.
  • Working proficiency in a programming or statistical language such as Python, R, Matlab, Java or Apex.
  • Strong analytical judgement and the ability to explain technical subjects to varied audiences.
  • Fluent English; SQL, data visualisation or humanitarian-response experience is advantageous.
