About the role
GiveDirectly is appointing a Chief Technology Officer to lead engineering, data, security and enterprise technology as the organisation scales its global cash-delivery systems. The role combines technical strategy, organisation building and executive decision-making in a high-stakes operating environment.

Responsibilities
What you will do
- Set the technology vision, target architecture and investment roadmap for the next stage of scale.
- Sequence a portfolio spanning new cash-delivery systems, legacy migration, fundraising products, emergency cash, enterprise technology and internal platforms.
- Grow and lead the technology organisation, with clear accountability, decision rights and career paths.
- Own the technical direction and quality bar across integrations, data, security, reliability and technical debt.
- Represent technology in executive decisions and communicate trade-offs clearly across the organisation.
- Travel internationally approximately four to six times per year.
Requirements
What you will bring
- A strong record of hiring, developing and retaining excellent engineers and engineering leaders.
- Deep technical judgement across architecture, major design decisions and build-versus-buy choices.
- Executive-level business judgement and decisiveness when balancing speed, reliability, security, cost and user impact.
- Demonstrated experience moving an organisation from AI experimentation to measured, responsible use.
- Ability to lead across functions while staying close enough to the work to challenge technical direction.
